REPOST: Part Three 💖
My journey to become a Mum.
__________
Over the next few days that line got stronger and stronger. Our excitement and love started to grow too, but so did my anxieties about going through everything again. I made a doctors appointment to talk this through and was told to take vitamins to help(I have low levels of iron), to call if I was worried and booked an early pregnancy appointment for me at the hospital.
__________
The days before the scan seemed to go on forever. Minutes felt like hours and hours felt like days. At the beginning of May I was caught up in an argument which resulted in me being assaulted but after a lot of upset I was very much protected and supported by the police. The whole ordeal raised my stress levels hugely, which raised my worries of another miscarriage way more than before.
__________
We arrived at the hospital and I was asked to do a pregnancy test which was positive. The early pregnancy nurse(who i will never forget) was such a lovely woman… she said that they only allow scans for pregnancies 6 weeks or over, and I was at 5 weeks 5 days. After looking at my history and hearing what had happened recently she edited my last cycle date so that it would say 6 weeks to the person doing the scan, and in we went.
__________
I lay there while they put the ultra sound gel on my belly and prodded around looking on the screen and I waited to hear those words that I’d heard twice before. She picked a remote up and turned the screen on that was directly infront of me and there I saw an image that I will see ever time I close my eyes. A tiny little blob like shape, in the right place, everything looking normal, measuring 5 weeks and 6 days, with a tiny yet strong heart beat… And that was the first time that we saw Esmae.

Met my midwife today and she was lovely 🙂 which was relief. The appointment went well, it was informative without being overwhelming.
Had a bit of a funny moment after having my bloods done, which I never do. You would think after IVF I would be used to needles lol.
I have my 12 week scan booked on the 16th. All feels so real now 🙂

REPOST: Part Six 🌅
My journey to become a Mum
_______
While in Cornwall for our gender scan(and our anniversary) we questioned the idea of moving back down… we had just had a day on the beach in Hayle and I looked across the sea and noticed a rainbow. That’s when I knew deep down that Cornwall was the place I wanted to raise Esmae.
________
Our next big step was hitting 20 weeks because if meant we were half way… and we did! That moment was big for me.
________
The next few weeks went by quicker because we had lots to sort out for our move to Cornwall which finally happened on October 16th 2018 at 28 weeks pregnant.
________
October 17th was my 24th Birthday and we spent it in a holiday apartment in Portreath, important to us due to going there previously in our relationship and taking photos on the cliff that we treasured.
________
We had such a perfect day, and decided to walk up to the cliff once again to catch the sunset despite not expecting it to be as nice as last time… but it was, it was so gorgeous along with the sounds of the sea that have always made me feel content.
________
We set up my phone on self timer for a photo to remember it when I looked down to see Steve holding a little box with a ring. It was then, on a Cornish cliff, looking over the ocean, with a sunset behind us, on the first day of officially living in Cornwall, and with Esmae growing away that Steve asked me to marry him.

REPOST: Part Five 🎀
My journey to become a mum.
________
Everything was suddenly very real and extremely exciting but unfortunately it was followed by more stress! After announcing our journey to the world, I had no choice but to tell my boss at a local restaurant where I worked as a waitress/barista in the day, cocktail waitress and serving drinks at night. This went very differently to how I expected when my hours were cut dramatically, followed by being removed from our rota system, and finally fired. I was still on the last bit of my probation period, however I had been told how well I was doing, and when I told them about Esmae, I was promised that I wouldn’t lose my job. However, I was completely cut out and only told that my work standards were low and that I had been warned several times before(100% untrue!). I decided not to just let this go as I had been trained in Discrimination laws… They offered me a sum in the end, two days before the court date😂
________
Anyway! The next big date was 16 weeks, where we got to hear her heart beat for the first time… it was incredible. This was followed by 17 weeks and 5 days – we’d booked a private scan in Cornwall.
________
We arrived at @cornwallbabyskanstudio in Truro and were made to feel so welcome by amazing staff who put up with quite a while of our little one being stubborn(I had to go for a walk and come back!) to make sure that we got the best photos that we could. This is where we found out that we were having a girl, and we already had her name picked which sunk into our hearts the moment we knew what we were having. Esmae❤️
________
We took our gender announcement photos with the help of my mum, on Gwithian Beach in Cornwall… One of my favourite places. ❤

#nipt screening is available at Baby Moments.
NIPT- Non invasive prenatal testing – is conducted from #10weekspregnant. It is more than 99% accurate.
Advantages of having NIPT vs the combined test (this is offered through the NHS), is that they test just the fetal DNA. This is why the results are much more accurate in #earlypregnancy.
They can also identify #babiesgender from this early stage!
With all NIPT bookings, we will also offer you FREE group B strep screening when you reach 35 weeks pregnant.
If you would like any further information regarding NIPT or Strep B screening, please feel free to contact us.
#pregnancyscreening #genderscan #pregnant NIPT screening is available at Baby Moments.

Happy New Year 2020! I am happy to stay home this year and relax with my husband, my dogs, our growing 13-week fetus, and our long-time friend. A chill night, spent reflecting on the decade just gone. The 2020s have a lot to live up to. #happynewyear2020
