An ultrasound can be used for a variety of reasons during pregnancy. They may also be done for nonmedical reasons, such as to produce 3D images for the parents to start bonding with their little one or to determine the gender of the baby.

With Our Early pregnancy ultrasounds you are able to:
* Confirm pregnancy.
* Check the fetal heartbeat.
* Have an estimate of the gestational age of the baby and estimate a due date.
* Check for multiple pregnancies.

Bado kuna haja ya kuongelea hili.
Kuna siku nilienda kumtembelea bi mkubwa wangu kwake.Wakati nafika yeye hakuwepo.Hivyo ilibidi nimsubiri maana alisema asinge kawia.
Mtoto amempa mimba mtoto.”Very tricky”
Walimu mashuleni tuendelee kutia mkazo haswaa tukifika kwenye mada hizo.
Stay safe.

25.02.19⠀

So I was unsure whether to share this, however I want be to completely honest and not paint a fake picture of a perfect happy pregnancy. ⠀

In 2018 following a trauma at work I began taking a tablet for anxiety, now I’ve always been an anxious person but for me it got out of control. Luckily propranolol helped me normalise my life again and I’ve continued to take the max dose since.⠀

Last Wednesday I went to see my GP to discuss this medication as it isn’t pregnancy friendly- it can pass to baby through my blood stream via the placenta. He basically told me to come off it cold turkey and just get on with it. Which I accepted at the time- being so overwhelmed I was actually pregnant, I walked out smiling not even thinking of the consequences.⠀

It’s been a strange week since I last took it- I don’t feel great but I know this should be the happiest time of my life and I almost feel guilty writing that. After speaking to my midwife yesterday she explained that personally she had a different view from the GP, she told me it was too much of a high dose to drop off from and that she was looking holistically at my well-being not just from a medical side of things. ⠀

So she has booked me in to see a different GP other than my own, who has a better understanding and an interest in mental health in pregnancy who may be able to help me with this!⠀

A healthy mind equals a healthy mum and baby and that’s honestly all I ask for ❤️❤️⠀

Around 6-8 weeks (sometimes earlier) you may start to get morning sickness.  Why it’s called morning sickness god knows, as it can strike any time!  For some, once they’ve been sick they recover and feel fairly normal for the rest of the day, for others the nausea or vomiting may last all day and it can really debilitating.
If it is just morning sickness then different remedies can help different people; dry crackers, ginger biscuits or sweets, coke (sometimes flat is recommended), sea-sickness bands and lemon are often thought to help.  Changing the time or type of prenatal vitamin you take can also have an impact as they can sometimes make sickness worse.
If your vomiting is excessive, or the nausea is all day and doesn’t lift, and starts to impact your life very negatively, you may have Hyperemesis Gravidarum.  Although people call this severe morning sickness it isn’t morning sickness, and can be dangerous to mum and baby if the mother becomes dehydrated.  In severe cases the pregnant person might need to be hospitalised in order to have iv fluids and a feeding tube.  If you are worried you might have HG contact your doctor and ask for a prescription for medication, there are many which are considered to be safe during pregnancy.

Even though on January 28th I was told I’m having a miscarriage. I still went home and took my first belly shot for memories and couldn’t help to be hopeful that doctors were wrong. They never gave me an ultrasound. Just HCG number check by urine and blood test. What if I am STILL pregnant and that’s why my belly is still growing.

My latest blog post is a subject I am VERY passionate about. Since experiencing a miscarriage almost three years ago, my husband and I have chosen to ignore the social norm of when it’s acceptable to start talking about our pregnancies, and have decided to share the joy of our tiny little babes earlier than most do.

In this post, I outline why I think it’s important to celebrate babies from the very moment we know about them, and why we choose to do so! Please give it a read and feel free to share your own thoughts and experiences! {Link is in my bio}

Is there ever a better excuse than being preggo to eat your way through a pile of pancakes?

Now I’ve got your attention, I wanted to bring up a little trouble I’ve been having this last trimester: round ligament pain.

What is that?
Most women refer to it as cramping, or deep stretching painful sensation in the muscles surrounding your uterus during pregnancy.

Though it’s more common in the second and third trimester, I can tell you from experience it happens in the first!
Round ligament pain happens as the said ligaments stretch and make way for your growing uterus.
There are two round ligaments (amongst many others keeping everything in place) on each side of the uterus.

What can you do when it crops up?

The best remedy is a little rest. This is your body telling you to take it a little easy as your body adapts to pregnancy.

Luckily it doesn’t happen all the time and usually comes and goes pretty quickly but listen to your body!

Heat packs are also great for relieving pain.

Try and get a little prenatal yoga in to help ease the pulling sensations by stretching out the hips and back area.

It shouldn’t last long and if it does get in touch with your medical provider to rule out any other possible preggo symptom.

Did you ever have this?
