My counsellor said something which helped me and I would like to pass it on in the hope it might help someone else in the throes of early pregnancy anxiety: ‘if all of this was taken away from you tomorrow, would enjoying it today make the pain worse’… no it wouldn’t and this perspective did help me to embrace being pregnant early on (of course I was still worried but I was able to rationalize it a bit).

Jane has always been an active person. She loves doing yoga and going for long hikes with her hubby. But she’s wondering now, what kind of restrictions are there for exercise during her pregnancy? 🧐
In short, none! Jane should obviously avoid any contact sports or high-risk sports that could result in trauma to her stomach. 🤰🏼
As long as Janes pregnancy is low risk she is free to practice any type of low-impact exercise, that is, if she doesn’t have complications like:
🔸Heart or lung disease
🔸High blood pressure or preeclampsia
🔸Cervical problems (like an incompetent cervix or preterm labour)
🔸Persistent bleeding during the second or third trimesters.
🔸Placental issues.
🔸Premature rupture of membranes
🔸Multiples (in some cases)
Moderate exercise is recommended in pregnancy and it will help you feel better in a lot of ways. Yes, even in the first trimester!
Exercise can do the following things for you:
💗Reduce backaches.
💗Relieve constipation, bloating and swelling.
💗Boost your mood and energy.
💗Help you sleep.
💗Prevent excess weight gain.
💗Promote strength and endurance which will help in labour and delivery!
I recommend finding something you love to do, otherwise, you won’t do it regularly! I really love yoga and Zumba, I don’t need to force myself to do those things, I actively seek them out. Go on, move your body! 💃
Just remember to get the OK from your health care provider first and off you go.

Then in relaxation, the teacher read out this awesome poem which meant so much and brought a couple of tears to my eyes… it’s been a long journey but I need to start embracing and enjoying it…
