Had my first ultrasound this morning.

This is a little journey reminder for myself as well, for me to look back on down the line ♥️ The week I hit 1-2 weeks on the clear blue I estimated I should’ve been around 4 weeks (I know when I ovulated give or take the 12 hour ish period) obviously you add two weeks onto these tests so I was hoping for a 2-3 weeker but I know that a single day can make all the difference to these tests so hey ho.

#IVF update – my second HCG blood level (“beta”) is back! It is excellent news. It rose even higher than they hoped it would in the last 4 days. .

A good sign for an early pregnancy is a HCG level that doubles every 48 hours (or faster). Mine, on 14dp5dt, is 1957.9. This means that since 4 days ago (when it was 221), it doubled every 30.5 hours! That is crazy fast, and a good sign that things in there are proceeding well. I am relieved and happy. .

The hard part is that now that my beta is over 1000, I don’t get any more blood tests. They simply scheduled my first OB ultrasound, which is in 15 days, on 11/19. That ultrasound (I will be over 6 weeks pregnant by then, nearly 7 weeks actually) will hopefully show an intrauterine gestational sac, and a tiny embryo with measurable cardiac activity. Hoping it does! Until then, I just have to wait around, and hope it is all still going well in there. .

I still am exhausted and feel queasy. I nap every day and still feel so tired. But it is a good sign, I am told! I continue to take the estrogen pills, progesterone injections, and progesterone vaginal inserts, consistently, until I reach 10 weeks pregnant, to sustain the hormones until the placenta can take over. .

The four big reasons to call your doctor when you’re pregnant!

This is something we go over in the office on a daily basis, and such a normal question for parents to be to ask. I’ll go over the four cardinal questions every OB asks this week!

Starting today with vaginal bleeding. Honestly, this is usually an easy one- we don’t typically have to convince patients to call when they’re bleeding! And I ask about it at every #prenatalcare visit. Seeing any amount of blood when you’re pregnant is scary! Around 24 weeks with Ella I had some bleeding. It makes your breath catch in your throat. Thankfully all was well, and while no one likes a pelvic exam- that was one I was glad to have!

Believe it or not some bleeding in pregnancy may be normal. In the first trimester the process of implantation can cause bleeding, but it could also signal ectopic pregnancy, impending miscarriage, or problems with your uterus/cervix like subchorionic hematoma, polyps, or infection.

In the second trimester bleeding can signal preterm labor, cervical insufficiency (painless dilation), or placental problems.

Any new bleeding in pregnancy warrants a call to your doctor. You may be instructed to observe, or may be asked to come in. Frequently we find the cervix is friable due to hormonal changes, and can reassure a patient that all is well. If bleeding is heavier or associated with pain, evaluation in the ER or labor and delivery may be the best option.

It’s so important to rule anything serious out. And it’s so nice when we can all take a deep breath and relax once we know everything is ok.

Корысть, невоспитанность и распутство присутствовали в молодых поколениях всегда. Разве только когда-то меньше, когда-то больше. Всегда находились те, кто старался вырости раньше, дабы казаться «круче», или же «лучше» остальных. Поэтому и сформировалось некое плохое представление о подростках. Если ребёнок начал употреблять алкогольные напитки, или же курить сигареты, то первый вопрос который хочется ему задать: «Ты думаешь, что кажешься круче своих друзей?». Девочки, которые хотят рано повзрослеть, приносят в дом ребёнка “под сердцем”, считая, что так они повзрослеют. Не стоит судить нас, детей и подростков, за то, что взрослые не пытаются понять нашего желания казаться взрослее. Во все времена подростающее поколение пыталось взрослеть скорее. Раньше было совершенно нормально заключать брак в раннем возрасте, но сейчас же, когда одна часть молодого поколения смотрит на ту, что взрослеет раньше, и боиться переступить детскую черту, не готовы создавать семьи и в тридцать лет. И правда, стоит задуматься: «А дети ли виноваты в том, что будущее может не наступить?»

What are your thoughts about getting the noninvasive prenatal screening test at around the 9-10 week mark? I will be 9 weeks and 6 days on Wednesday but we need to decide about the screening by tomorrow. .

I will being call @sema4genomics tomorrow to see our options of insurance coverage – if the cost is over $100 out of pocket, we probably won’t do it. If insurance covers it, then I think it is a valuable option. .
For us, the screening would be a helpful step of mental preparation – if our kiddo may have a genetic condition, I’d rather have several months to research and ensure the best set up for our kiddo in this world. However, not knowing until the kid arrives is also an option. .

What freaks me out is the invasive needle procedure – that just screams “so much no” in my mind. I know technology has come far…. but yea…no. .
So, what are all your thoughts on the noninvasive as well as invasive prenatal procedures for screening? .
