Amidst all of the anxiousness and gloom in the media, we thought we’d share a secret- a little slice of our happiness- in your newsfeeds. ⁣
{check out the photo!} 🤭⁣

{there’s a rainbow of hope at the end of a storm}🌈 ⁣

It’s still early. Announcing in the first trimester is a little taboo in today’s world, But after last years pain, and the way this year has started, I am living in the moment. God knows the plan for this little rainbow baby, and we hope for a full, healthy pregnancy 🙏🏻 ⁣

We are overjoyed to say the least.❤️ ⁣

(soon we will more evenly fill the minivan 😎🤪)

💫Weekend Wellness Tip 💫
⠀
As most of us complete our second week of self-isolating, the struggle to practice self-care during uncertain times continues.⠀
⠀
Many of us are still processing exciting, challenging, or disappointing news, making the need for emotional support even more critical now.⠀
⠀
Despite the challenges that social distancing presents, you can still find support by:⠀
⠀
1) Reaching out to a therapist/coach or online support group. I have taken my practice online to accommodate my clients, which works out well. Reach out to someone you trust.⠀
⠀
2) Joining a virtual book club. Getting lost in a book can be a welcome distraction. Let’s face it – we need it with the current news cycle.⠀
⠀
3) Join a virtual dance party. Check to see if your favorite DJ or artist may be hosting a party or concert through IG Live. @dnice kept a lot of us going last week; I can’t wait to see what’s in store next. ⠀
⠀
4) Try a new mantra or grounding technique – Focusing on the “here and now” can help ease your anxious spirit, especially when you are in a fragile state.⠀
⠀
5) Join a virtual museum tour and take your friends along.⠀
⠀
6) Dust off your “To-Do” list and start crossing things off. The additional activity can help boost your mood as you shift your focus and feel accomplished by completing tasks.⠀
⠀
Remember that as you tend to your mental health during this challenging time, finding healthy ways to distract yourself is okay too. ⠀
⠀
We are all adjusting to a new normal; there is no right or wrong.⠀

Never did I think this would be my last picture taken in front of my own mirror. At 29 weeks pregnant I got rushed to the hospital in yorkton after my ultrasound, from there I got admitted to RUH in Saskatoon. This dates back 1 year ago, I couldn’t of imagined how things all played out. 33 days in NICU BUT almost one year later we have 2 healthy little girls 🥰 #nicubaby #identicaltwins #braxtonhicks #pretermlabor #earlypregnancy

Annie is about to have the first-trimester screening done and she really wants to know what’s involved.⁣

👉🏻Follow @babytalk.birthnurse for more fun pregnancy and birth education from a labour and delivery nurse👩‍⚕️ #preggolego⁣ 😍⁣

The first-trimester screening is a combined test that calculates the probability of the fetus having certain chromosomal conditions, specifically Down syndrome and other trisomies.⁣

There are two different components:⁣

1️⃣ A blood test to measure levels of two pregnancy-specific substances in your blood. PAPP-A and hCG.⁣
2️⃣ An ultrasound to measure the clear space in the tissue at the back of your baby’s neck. This is also called nuchal translucency.⁣

These tests are typically done between weeks 11 and 14.⁣

The laboratory uses a statistical calculation using the results of the blood test and ultrasound, in combination with your age to calculate the RISK that your baby will have a chromosomal abnormality. 📈⁣

Note that it is only risk that is calculated. This is not a diagnostic test in any way. If the result comes back as high risk, this only means that your provider will have to do another type of test to know for sure whether this is going on.🧪🌡⁣

Before you decide whether you’d like to have this test or not, it’s important whether to know what you will do with that information. ⁣

In the unlikely event that your baby does have chromosomal abnormalities, you might be faced with the decision to terminate the pregnancy. Is that something you think you would do? ⁣

The first-trimester screening is by no means a must! It’s a personal choice that parents must decide on.🧸⁣

Did you have the first trimester combined screening?⁣

Today I’m 5 weeks pregnant and my anxiety has suddenly went through the roof 😖 Im worried I don’t feel sick or have sore boobs. Fresh on the heels of the excitement of your positive pregnancy test, you find out that there is an overwhelming amount of information out there for pregnant people, much of it telling you what you can’t eat, can’t do, and what you should be worried and afraid about. ⁣

This class is designed to be taken before 20 weeks of pregnancy when you have the opportunity to set a positive course of hopeful expectations for a healthy pregnancy and a birth that you can look forward to. ⁣

Learn to distinguish between the real dos and don’ts of pregnancy, set a foundation of appreciating pregnancy and birth as normal life events, surround yourself with positive stories about birth, sharpen your decision making skills and intuition and discover the exercises and practices that you most need to be doing to prepare for birth, but that no one is probably telling you about. ⁣

This class will be held as an interactive online class and all participants will also receive a bonus private virtual session with Elizabeth . ⁣

*If after taking Positively Pregnant you decide to take the other classes in this series, you will recoup your investment by receiving $25 off your Confident & Prepared Birth Class and $25 off your Postpartum Wellness, Breastfeeding & Newborn Care class.⁣
