A bit late in the update this week, now 11+3 and feeling more grateful than ever. Most of you already know why but I will go into detail further on.⁣

Symptoms this past week:⁣

🌸 Heartburn/indigestion⁣
🌸 Headaches, mostly in the evenings. ⁣

That’s it! Everything seemed to be ticking along nicely and my anxiety was even easing off ever so slightly… It was our wedding anniversary this week and it’s been lovely! We then decided to travel to the East Coast to spend a couple of days with my parents. We were just settling in for a takeaway and quiet night of board games with my family when I went to the toilet and saw my biggest fear… blood. Blood in the toilet, on the paper… ⁣

Long story short we were sent to Gynae Triage, they told us it could be hours before a Dr could see us and that even then they probably wouldn’t scan us! I argued what the point in me being here was ect… the nurses told me they would take a urine sample and a blood sample. When I asked what for the explained the urine would confirm I was pregnant and they couldn’t seem to answer why I was to give blood?! I was furious… ⁣

Eventually they agreed to check my cervix- it was closed and the bleeding had stopped! Magically the Dr appeared and agreed to scan me the baby was perfect 💞 We went home, relieves but scared. The following morning, more bleeding and a trip to the EPU- scan was perfect and they couldn’t find when the bleed was coming from… The bleeding has since stopped and I’m having some brown residual spotting. I’m also noticing some occasional pain, sometimes quite sharp, sometimes on my right side and sometimes on both. Is it too early for round ligament pain? Either way it’s unnerving. ⁣

I’ve taken a few days off work and I’m putting my feet up. Hubby has been amazing and looking after me 💞 12 week scan on Tuesday- I can’t believe we’re almost there. I am so so grateful to be where I am. Love and baby dust to all 🥰⁣

Certain nutrients are essential in early pregnancy to help the developing baby. Our nutritional therapist Laura Southern says:

🔸Folic acid is essential in the early stages of pregnancy to help prevent conditions such as Spina Bifida and cleft palate. 400mcg should be taken daily until 14 weeks gestation and ideally should be started 2-3 months pre-conception if possible. If you have had a baby with a neural tube defect or elevated risk factors your doctor may recommend a higher dose of folic acid.

🔸Omega 3 is important for the baby’s developing brain, whilst it is found in oily fish a supplement can also be beneficial throughout pregnancy.

🔸Vitamin D deficiency is very common in pregnancy and it is one reason why many mums may feel very tried. It is also required to support bones in women and fetal bone development. Therefore it is recommended to take vitamin D supplements during pregnancy which may be included in a pregnancy multi-vitamin.

Good Saturday morning 🤗 my morning sickness seems to have eased off yesterday and this morning, so I’m really enjoying eating something that’s not crackers or ginger related 🤣 hopefully it stays this way through the rest of my pregnancy 🤞🤞 have a great weekend everyone
