
[R u ok?] The ‘R u ok?’ Campaign hits home for me on so many personal levels, so much so that I can’t even go into it, especially here, on social media. It’s a wonderful thing that there is a specific ‘day’ to raise awareness for mental health, for checking in on those closest to us or those we pass in the school playground while dropping off ours kids. What we need to do though, is to start asking people everyday if they’re ok. If you notice a shift in mood, if you see a change in ones appearance, if you notice someone giving away possessions, speaking about suicide, acting out of sorts, don’t wait, ask if they’re ok. Asking a simple question may just save someone’s life. Starting an R U OK? conversation? Use these four steps: 1. Ask R U OK? 2. Listen 3. Encourage action 4.
