Can we see it? Yes we can! πΊπ₯πΊπ₯ Ultrasound is a great tool in early pregnancy, it helps us diagnose any problems in early pregnancy after bleeding or pain. You may have seen some ultrasound scans before and thoughts itβs just a haze of grey. π«π«π«π«π«π«π«π«π«π«π«But at 5 weeks you start to see some foetal structures that help us recognise and confirm a normal pregnancy. The gestation sac is one of the first structures visible. This will be the sac the baby grows in. Then a yolk sac π³should be visible within the gestation sac at 5 weeks pregnant. What is a yolk sac? This is a structure that provides nutrition to the pregnancy at this stage before the placenta is fully informed. At the end of 5 weeks approaching 6 weeks pregnant , a small line on the scan is seen and this is the embryo. At 6-7 weeks we start to see a flicker and that represents a heartbeat. At this point we can confirm itβs a normal early pregnancy in the uterus. ..................................................................... βοΈβοΈπ§π½π§πΎπ§πΏπ§πΌπ§π»π΅πΏπ΅πΎπ΅π½π΅πΌπ΅π»βοΈβοΈ #fertility #eggs #theovarystory #femalehealth #ovary #uterus #knowyourhealth #obgyn #obstetrics #gynaecology #ovariancyst #gynecology #cyst #pelvicpain #fertility #pelvis #selfcare #selfhealth #ultrasound #earlypregnancy #pregnancy #pregnant #miscarriage
